Wow. Just wow.
I am overflowing with awe and wonder.
God is the most beautiful artist of all and it shows so vividly in Skye.
After the cruise around the Isle of Skye, we planned to rent a car and drive on Skye.
It was breathtaking.
It was quite an experience driving on the roads. We drove on the other side of the car (right side), drove on the other side of the road, we dodged animals that were all over the place, and sometimes there was only one lane for two ways to share.
It seems like everywhere we stopped along the way, there was something beautiful to look at. The cliffs on the ocean side were so dramatic, and often had waterfalls of freshwater falling into the sea.
We ended up driving up the norther coast of Skye for the day. We stopped at every. single. beach. and enjoyed the crystal clear water and the rocks and sand below. The air was crisp, the wind was cool, and the weather couldn’t decide if it wanted to rain or be clear. As soon as the rain came in, it stopped and the clouds rapidly moved away to expose the blue skies and sunshine. And just like that; it was raining again.
^^ That handsome man up there was my driver and lead photographer. My love for him continued to grow as he carefully navigated us from place to place, and made me look pretty in pictures.
In true Weaver fashion, we visited cemeteries along the way to compare to the monuments we manufacture at home. They were all so different, but they were beautiful. How peaceful of a place to be laid at rest.
I’ll say it again.
Skye was breathtaking!
We visited one last cemetery before we headed back to our hotel in Portree. It turns out that this particular cemetery used to be a functioning church back in the early 1200’s. Throughout the entire church, there were monuments of people – some dated back to the 1600s. The artistry and detail that they accomplished on some of the memorials was incredible.
At the end of the day we began our travels back to the small town of Portree for dinner. A separate post on the food in Skye is to come!
Thanks for following along in our journey! We have so loved our time here!
